ORGANIC OLIVE OIL

Olea Europea Fruit Oil

Olive Oil has historically been a part of our land and culture and has always been well known as an important ingredient in cosmetics. The natural oil when optimally grown, harvested, and prepared, is high in anti-oxidants and vitamins (A, E and K) as well as naturally rich in active, enriching fatty acids for keeping skin healthy and glowing. Olive oil is effective in a wide range of hair and skin preparations and is used to ease and help alleviate the ravages of exposure to sun and wind. It is highly nourishing, protective, balancing and replenishing for the skin leaving it soft, glowing and smooth to the touch.

ORGANIC JOJOBA

Simmondsia Chinesis Seed Oil

Jojoba is one of FARAN's favorite base ingredients for many of our products. This liquid wax closely mimics the skins natural oils - far more than other plant oils. Jojoba, with its versatile and unique properties is an effective ingredient containing anti-oxidants with Anti-aging properties. It is naturally helps with reducing scarring, stretch marks and other skin damage. It is easily absorbed and has a long lasting nourishing effect. Because jojoba is resistant to oxidation it aids a long, natural shelf life to all products in which it is present providing that it is in sufficient quantity. Jojoba encourages elasticity in the skin leaving it soothed and glowing. It is suitable for all skin types and excellent for dry, fine, damaged, mature skin and also for scalp and hair. It is safe and effective in preparations for baby products and can be used as a nourishing and highly effective make-up remover/cleanser. Jojoba is not suitable for ingestion. The jojoba plant is not edible.

ORGANIC BEES WAX

Cera Alba

Beeswax, have the properties to help with thickening the product & act as a co-emulsifier (binding oil based and water based ingredients together). Beeswax was known in ancient times to be an effective disinfectant and a treatment for minor wounds. When it is present in a correct balance, beeswax contributes moisturizing, enriching, soothing and softening properties to products.

ORGANIC COCOA BUTTER

Theobroma cacao

Cocoa Butter has the properties to help with thickening the product & act as a co-emulsifier. The butter itself encourages elasticity and has nourishing qualities particularly for dry, cracked skin & is rich in anti-oxidants. Cocoa Butter is also effective for preventing and reducing stretch marks.

ORGANIC AVOCADO OIL

Persea gratissima

Avocado oil is rich in vitamins A, B and D as well as lecithin plus essential fatty acids (vitamin F). Clinical tests have attested to the fact that avocado oil is more readily absorbed into the skin than most oils used in cosmetics. Avocado oil is recommended for dry skin and mature skin. It is known to soothe sensitive skin.

ORGANIC COCONUT OIL

Cocus Nucifera Oil

Coconut oil is an outstanding moisturizer and skin softener. In FARAN products it is used as a nourishing, moisturizing ingredient especially effective on dry skin. In soaps, this constitutes the ingredient which produces the rich lather. The dominant ingredients in coconut oil are the saturated, essential, fatty acids which enhance the consistency of products due to their ability to solidify at low temperatures. For this reason they resist oxidation and have an extended, natural, shelf life in comparison to most plant based oils.

ORGANIC MACADAMIAN NUT OIL

Macadamia ternifolia

Macadamia oil is rich in Palmitoleic fatty acid (~20%) which is common in animal oils but rarer in plant oils. Its great advantage is in being resistant to oxidation and this means that it is also long lasting providing a thick, nourishing “padding” for dry/mature skin. This oil also helps in fixation of odors.

ORGANIC SUNFLOWER SEED OIL

Helianthus Annus Seed Oil

Easily absorbed sunflower seed oil has outstandingly enriching qualities. It helps with moisture balance, renewal and softening the skin. It is particularly suited to normal to dry skin, sensitive, damaged and mature skin. It is rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins & Oleic acid that help to extend the shelf life of a product.

SWEET ALMOND OIL

Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil

Rich in essential fatty acids, mainly Oleic acid (more than 60%) and Linoleic acid which makes this oil an enriching, renewing ingredient for the skin. Sweet Almond Oil is readily absorbed into the skin and provides long lasting enrichment. It is high in anti-oxidants.

ORGANIC SHEA BUTTER

Butrospermum Parkii

Wheat germ Oil is rich in vitamin E & essential fatty acids (vitamin F) especially linoleic acid as well as a large quantity of Carotenoids (Pro vitamin A) giving it its distinctive red tone and 4% of unsaponified materials that helps to encourage skin renewal and restoration. It is recognized as a powerful anti-oxidant.

ORGANIC SHEA BUTTER

Butyrospermum Parkii

We consider Shea butter as a “wonder ingredient”! Like Jojoba and Olive Oils we use it liberally and highly recommend its excellent qualities. This butter is rich in vitamins and moisturizing agents, nourishes & helps in treating many skin disorders. Shea butter is the answer for dry, damaged skin, restoring moisture and elasticity. Shea Butter is soothing and proven helpful in dealing with stretch marks. One of its outstanding properties is the content of ~8% unsaponified materials which adds to its efficacy in refinement skin & giving some protection from sun damage. (In its pure form the butter has a 3-4 level natural protection factor). European clinical tests evaluating the active ingredients in Shea Butter found it excellent for treating dry skin, dermatitis, redness caused by sun damage, burns and various skin irritations. The tests suggest that Shea enhances and increases blood flow in the skin that enriches the tissues with oxygen and helps to eliminate toxins.

ESSENTIAL OILS

ROSEMARY Oil

Rosmarinus officinalis

In aromatherapy rosemary oil is considered as a stimulant for body & soul as a disinfectant, stimulant, warming, anti-fungal, helping with skin disorders & also discourages head lice. It is also known to help reduce the symptoms of muscle pain, tiredness and head-colds. In cosmetics rosemary oil is used to balance oily skin and has been found helpful for acne sufferers.

LAVENDER OIL

Lavandula Angustifolia

Lavender Oil is used by us in many products. We love its pleasant scent and its wonderful effect on body and soul. In our first aid cabinet it will always be presented for treating burns and as an antiseptic. It is known for its relaxing properties, as effective treatment in case of minor burns, as antiseptic, anti-fungal & anti-inflammatory. Lavender oil enhances the metabolism and renewal of the skins tissue, counters cramps, soothes and anesthetic. Lavender is very safe to use & suitable for all skin types.

CHAMOMILE OIL

Anthemis nobilis

Chamomile is wonderfully soothing & gentle oil. It relieves itching, is an effective anti-inflammatory, speeding skin renewal and helps healing skin lesions. it is considered one of the gentlest, safest and most versatile ingredients available for use in natural/organic cosmetics. It is helpful for acne sufferers, skin irritations, minor burns, cracked skin, dermatitis, dry and/or mature skin. At FARAN we particularly like to use it in our baby product line.

MANUCA OIL

Leptospermum Scoparium

Research that was carried out at the CAWTHRON INSTITUTE in New Zealand suggests that Manuca Oil has up to ten times more active antibacterial and anti-fungal properties than Tea Tree Oil. Another New Zealand study (published in April 1998 at Otago University) suggests that Manuca Oil is effective with the whole range of bacteria associated with acne. Other studies have showed this oil's ability to soothe and help those suffering from skin irritations. Manuca Oil is not only an effective way to help treating acne but is also effective when dealing with fungal infections affecting feet and nails and is safe to use for all skin types. We particularly like to use this oil in some of our baby products.

SPEARMINT OIL

Mentha Spicata

The refreshing scent of spearmint contacts us with the roots & brings good feeling. Since earliest times healers have used this wonderful oil to help soothe acne, dermatitis and reddened irritated skin. Its qualities are very similar to those of Peppermint Oil, but it is much gentler. In Aromatherapy Spearmint is used as analgesic, anesthetic & for its anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal effects. It is a wonderful refreshing & stimulant ingredient.

GERANIUM OIL

Pelargonium Graveolens Oil

The beloved & pleasurable scent of the Geranium Oil is used by us in many of our facial products. In aromatherapy it is known to aid emotional relaxation and is an anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, astringent, sebum balancer and helper in the renewal of skin tissue. It is used to help sufferers of dry skin, problematic skin, dermatitis, fungal infections on feet and nails, cracked skin as well as minor cuts, burns and abrasions.

LEMONGRASS OIL

Cymbopogon Scheonanthus

Lemongrass oil is one of our favorites due to its uplifting & pleasant smell. Using products containing this oil, will give happy & uplifted feeling. In aromatherapy lemongrass oil is used as an antiseptic, anti-fungal, astringent & also as a bug repellent. It is especially beneficial for oily skin and helps control acne.

PATCHOULI OIL

Pogostemon Cablin

Patchouli oil has long been considered to be very sensual oil and sexually stimulating. It is frequently used in scents and perfumes. In aromatherapy it is considered to enhance skin tissue renewal and is used as an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal. Patchouli improves blood flow in the skin, is helpful for those suffering from dandruff and some advocate that it lightens scarring. Patchouli is recommended for treating dry skin, wrinkles, minor burns, cracked skin, acne, dermatitis & seborrhea.

YLANG YLANG

Cananga odorata

Ylang-ylang is particularly known for its properties as a sexual stimulant and for this reason it is widely used in the high-end, exclusive, perfume industry. In cosmetics, Ylang Ylang is known to balance the secretion of sebum and that’s why it is particularly beneficial for oily and mixed skin. it is considered as effective in the treatment of seborrhea and dandruff.

EUCALYPTUS OIL

Eucalyptus globulus

Known for its strong antiseptic, anti-viral and phlegm loosening properties, eucalyptus has long been used in the treatment of head colds and respiratory ailments. In cosmetics this oil is used for treating oily skin and acne. Alongside its antiseptic properties Eucalyptus Oil soothes the skin and hastens the healing of wounds.

GINGER OIL

Zingiber officinale

Ginger has the quality of strengthening body and soul. It is warming, stimulating, and enhancing passions and sensual responses. It helps to relieve aches and muscles pains, acting as a natural painkiller and disinfectant.

BLACK PEPPER OIL

Piper Nigrum

In aromatherapy Black Pepper Oil is used to warm, arouse and stimulate. it is helpful in the treatment of muscle cramps and pains. It is also used in treating cellulite.

TEA-TREE OIL

Melaleuca alternifolia

Suitable for all skin types (including sensitive skin); Tea-Tree is a powerful antiseptic. Helpful & effective in the treatment of acne & is also known to kill a wide range of bacteria and fungal infections. Teenage acne sufferers have found it to be a helpful treatment. At FARAN, we use Tea-Tree Oil in our soaps, Babies nappy Rash Cream and in the Lip Balm.

GRAPEFRUIT OIL

Citrus paradise

The distinctive scent of this citrus oil is uplifting, stimulating and, some say, promotes a sense of youthfulness. The oil has properties which aid the breakdown of cellulite, elimination of excess water and is helpful for sufferers of acne and oily skin. It is advised not to expose skin to the sun several hours after using this Oil. However our products contain minimal amounts of citrus oils and therefore this issue is not relevant.

Milk Products

GOAT MILK

In traditional folk medicine goats' milk has long been a substance to help relieve all sorts of pimples and sores. It is known to be far more easily digested than most other kinds of milk, partly because it is more closely mimics mother's breast milk. It is rich in vitamins, minerals & proteins. Our goats' milk soaps have proven themselves wonderfully rich and nourishing especially for dry, sensitive and damaged skin.

CAMEL MILK

Camel milk was not part of western folk medicine but in most eastern traditional cures Camel's milk was very important. It was & still is valued for its highly nutritious feeding properties & also for its healing qualities. Used to fortify the diet since it is easily digested, camel milk is closer to human milk than regular milk. Research has shown that it helps in cases of diabetes and with some kinds of cancers. It has antibacterial & antiviral qualities & is rich with vitamins and minerals. This milk is high in vitamin C, B, iron, proteins and fatty acids. It contains kind of acids that helps to smooth wrinkles and encourages skin renewal. These qualities make it a wonderful ingredient in cosmetics; the milk soothes and nourishes dry, sensitive and damaged skin. A variety of skin ailments are known to respond well to Camel's milk including eczema, dermatitis, pimples and seborrhea. Camel's milk has the ability to encourage skin renewal, to treat wrinkles and act as an anti-aging substance. Camel's milk is a wonderful ingredient for skins vitality, healthiness & flexibility.

THE MINERAL MAKEUP WORLD

Mica Powder

Purified and crushed mica mineral. Micas are available in a variety of different colors form opalescent, sparkling or completely matte. Reduced the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, adds to adhesion and slip properties.

Iron Oxides

Those are strong pigments. Iron Oxides are non-bleeding and weather resistant.

Silica Powder

A smooth, silky, translucent, fine white powder used in many cosmetics. It is highly absorbent and used for oil control. It improves slip and due to its light scattering properties reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Corn starch (Zea Mays)

A filling agent. Obtained from Organic Corn and used as a drawing agent. Absorbs water and soothes the skin.

KAOLIN CLAY

A fluffy clay that has natural absorbency properties, known as soothing and not drying. It can be used for many skin conditions as calming and anti-inflammatory.

Titanium Dioxide

A natural source white pigment. Features abilities for sunscreen protection and is water resistant.

Zinc Oxide

It is known for its anti-fungal properties and widely used against skin irritations. Zinc Oxide has UV protection properties. Used also as a color additive.

Lauroyl Lysine

An Amino Acid derivative that is made from natural coconut fatty acid (coconut oil). It acts as a surfactant and conditioning agent.
